Today’s modern manufacturing methods demand tough and hygienic flooring surfaces to ensure safe, clean and efficient processes. One of the world’s leading car component manufacturers has selected Resdev’s Pumadur HF high build polyurethane flooring system for a new production area, requiring a floor that was hard wearing, seamless, easy to clean, afforded slip resistance in the event of spillages and with a lifespan in excess of 10 years.
Industrial flooring specialists PSC Flooring Ltd matched Pumadur HF to meet the tough demands of this automotive industry application. The 6mm polyurethane screed offers advanced levels of durability and is classified by FeRFA, the UK resin’s governing body, as Type 8, meaning it ranks amongst the most hard wearing, robust screeds on the market.
Polyurethane screeds have a relatively low viscosity when compared with their epoxy counterparts, which means they can be hand trowel applied to produce a heavy duty, matt, anti-skid surface which is proof against almost everything including steel wheeled traffic and substantial impact and abrasion.
To prepare for the installation, the existing concrete floor in the production area was shot-blasted clean, with a single coat of epoxy damp proof primer applied to areas of high moisture content. On a lower porosity, dryer floor, Pumadur RT would have been the best option. The floor was then repaired as required before Pumadur HF heavy duty, polyurethane screed was laid at a thickness of 6mm.
Pumadur HF is ideal for installation in a wide range of environments, including chemical and food processing, pharmaceuticals, cold storage, printing and heavy engineering. Available in a choice of colours, they are easy to clean and maintain providing hardwearing, long-lasting solutions.
The entire resin flooring project was completed in just eight working days, and the client was delighted with the appearance and finish of the floor, installed on time and to budget.
