Colour Coded Food Hygiene Excellence at Primepak

Family business Primepak Foods Limited supply an extensive range of cooked meats, cheese, bakery products, sandwiches, bacon and sausages to a host of well respected customers throughout the UK and they take their role in the food chill chain seriously. In accordance with the Food Standards Agency’s Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point system (HACCP), Primepak follow a stringent Chill Chain procedure to ensure complete accountability from materials sourcing, through to controlled delivery, preparation, refrigeration, record maintenance and customer care.

Having recently extended their factory, based in Driffield, East Yorkshire, Primepak called upon the services of Zircon Flooring Limited to install 750 square metres of heavy duty screed flooring and coving. Seamless resin flooring specialists Zircon chose Resdev’s Pumadur Polyurethane Resin Flooring Systems for the project with Pumadur RT, resin rich heavy duty screed and Pumadur WR, polyurethane wall render, coving and upstand system being applied in 3 different colours to identify specific working areas for food preparation, packaging and general traffic in order to prevent cross contamination. Tested by Campden BRI, Pumadur RT is classified as non taint and as Primepak needed to have the new extension up and running as quickly as possible, it was the ideal solution.

The 3 distinct colours were laid in different rooms and along corridors, with coving to ensure that the whole building can be washed down regularly as part of the company’s health, safety and hygiene procedures. The complete system has been installed with access to drainage gullies in necessary locations. Pumadur RT has a characteristically matt finish with a mottled appearance, ensuring excellent slip resistance qualities and can be steam cleaned. In conjunction with the Pumadur WR, protected with Pumadur TF polyurethane floor coating, the complete system provides a seamless ‘box’ finish for sterile process areas.
